It is with deep regret that I have to announce that I will be taking a hiatus for The Soda Shop. For how long is unknown. I need to deal with a death of a close family member. I am also expecting to close on my first home this week. It is both exciting and nerve racking all at the same time. The house does need a bit of work. I do have a few reviews scheduled to post over the next week or so as well as Daily Bandcamp Albums up for the rest of the month. The 16th will be the final Weekly Bandcamp Recommendation feature for sometime. I may or may not post them to Facebook. Checking the blog will actually be the best way to check for new things. Requests for reviews and news posting may go unanswered, don’t take anything personally if you don’t hear back.

Snakeskin [EP] by King Hiss“When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. King Hiss however, was given 4 man mountains. A scrumptious R&R hodgepodge that will keep your teeth sharp is the end result. This hodgepodge will be a true delight to any metal, hardrock, hardcore or stonerrockkid.

This rock and roll leviathan is moving in for the kill. King Hiss will claim the throne once more.”

Current Rotation 2012

Bacchus Baracus Tales Of Worries Woes and WhateverBacchus Baracus have recently released their debut full length Tales of Worries, Woes & Whatever after a strong EP that was released in 2011.

The guys waste no time getting right down to business. Tales of Worries, Woes & Whatever is a non stop ride of deep and gnarly vocals, heavy neck snapping guitars, crushing riffage thoughout. The drumming is no joke either. You’d be hard pressed to find a better drummer not named Bonham, Moon, or Ward. The doomy overtones in “Fuck Knows Man” add to an already intense album. It’s the highlight of the album.

Album Review; The Mouths of Madness by Orchid

Orchid - The Mouths Of MadnessAs the needle drops on my newly purchased limited edition purple vinyl of Orchids’
newest “Mouth of Madness”…. I pull hard on my glass girl…I let the smoke dance and
flicker in the candlelight room. Just enough light for my nearly closed eyes to read the
lyrics printed right there on the album sleeve.

The drum beat thumps as Theo’s voice drains my thoughts and fills my brain with a new
adventure on the tile track. The industrial blackness just bleeds from Orchids sound.
Pops and cracks as track 2 awaits to arrive. “Marching Dogs of War” chunks along
with killer riffs and drum fills. My bong fills with smoke as the harmonica slips into
my experience…psych reverb and guitar echoes reassures me this journey is perfect.
