“Dark Valley Harvesters are a difficult rock band to put into a traditional genre. Too heavy to be Southern Rock and too Country to be Metal.”
Anytime you see a band name and the word “Mammoth” is in it you know you’re getting something huge. Huge is the word. Mammoth Salmon don’t disappoint with their heavy and thick doom stoner metal. Fucking bad ass!
“Câimbra is a Brazilian sludge metal band formed in São Paulo in 2009. Early in 2011 the quintet released the 5-track debut EP “É TUDO UMA MENTIRA” in digipak CD format. On January 2013
the band released a new 5-song EP entitled “E NO FIM O QUE RESTA?”, which will soon be available in a 12″ vinyl package.”
“She Loves Pablo is a 4-piece groove rock band from Zagreb, Croatia.”
“Limb are a quartet, based in London, who deploy crushing riffs, rhythms and vocals, all housed in a vat of slow-churned tar that fans of Goatsnake and Weedeater will lap up. It’s not all crushing atmospheres though: the band shift up through the gears with ease to deliver driving rhythms and galloping riffs in ‘Black Rat’ and ‘Dead Voice’, both of which take you back to glorious classic rock hooks of the ’70s. The band are also not afraid to ease up on the attack either: there’s an undercurrent of barely restrained melody, most prominent in the stripped-down passages of the opening track ‘Daemoness’, whose vibe is that of AmRep records or even Neurosis.”
“Heavyass Ukrainian drone doom sludge, maybe heavier than sleep, slower anyway, in drone parts you just wait when that riff massacre starts again, amazing first demo”.
“Corax is a doom/sludge metal band from Johannesburg, South Africa. Corax was formed by Brent and Patrick, whilst under the influence of Faxe extra strong beer, on the 2nd of May 2010. After 2 years of fuckin about in the garage we finally had enough material to record an album. We spent 18 hours in April 2012 recording our debut self-titled album at SABC studio’s in Johannesburg. Corax will be playing shows full time from 2013.”
“Penicillin Baby is a psych-rock band from Nashville, TN. They formed in late 2011 and release three EPs in 2012 (
Jams: Volume I, MEGA/BABY Split Cassette, Jams: Volume II) and plan to continue that momentum in 2013. “
“Sticky Stranglets is an alternative rock band from Oklahoma City. Sticky Stranglets’ new single Smellin’ Evil is the band’s first professionally produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered song. It was recorded in Atlanta,Georgia at Universal Recording Studios/Pendlwood for Capital USA.”
“Dusty and adventurous, Black Bear Tribe is an homage to rock’s classic and blues roots, amalgamating its brashness with its capacity for beauty. Whether the hulking trudge of hard rock or the finespun thread of folk music, Black Bear Tribe is a bold cry in the wilderness.”
