Bandcamp Recommendations 10/4/2012

Here’s some heavy and aggressive sludge metal from Hungary to start off.The band is Grizzly and their style is quite fitting given the name.

WOW! Hard hitting and ass kicking sludge metal from a band called Asthma Castle. Upon listening you can hear influences such as Crowbar, Clutch, and Black Label Society.

“The “breakthrough” EP – which had tracks featured on numerous compilation cd’s and was crucial in getting the first album deal sorted out with Gallipoli Records.”Kick ass heavy metal.

Dog Moon Howl, a Glasgow/Edinburgh-based band playing music in the popular heavy-psych-stoner-alt.blues-rock style, was formed in late 2011.

Ok, the band is called Hibagọn and the album is, are you ready for it? Hibagọn VS Monsters Spewed from Time’s Stomach to Clutch the Universe in a Mortal Slime, or HVMSFTSTCTUIAMS. Got it? No, don’t worry about it. What they play here is instrumental heavy metal with some fuzzed out and psychedelic moments. Kick ass stuff.

Disarmingly human and emotionally charged noise/garage rock from the heart of Brooklyn, New York, EndAnd have been gaining feverish word-of-mouth lately thanks to the release of the uncompromising “Adventures of Fi in Space”, which saw the band getting recommended by publications such as Large Hearted Boy and Those Who Dig.

I found this next band through another blog recently. I can’t remember for the life of me which one though. Anyways, I had to check out this band based off their name alone.  Lupinus Vaginusby Wolfpussy. Come on, with that name you’d check it out just for the novelty  of the name. Well turns out their tunes aren’t so much the novelty. It’s heavy stoner metal often times sludgy. They remind me a bit of The Sword mixed with Crowbar. Heavy and epic, check this shit out!

“Wolfpussy is a breath of fresh air in a genre full of doom, taking much inspiration from 70′s rock, metal, bands like Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Vanilla Fudge, Blue Cheer, Lord Baltimore, Iron Maiden, etc. They look to bring a new perspective to an already growing genre.
They’re live show translates the energy their music generates, one listen to the explosive drums , melodic guitars ,or thundering bass will let you know they want you to feel the energy they dump into the soul of this band.
See Wolfpussy live, I dare you not to move.”

“Hailing from the wretched industrial town of Äänekoski, Psychedeliver was founded in 2011 at the concrete bunker where Henu and Otto had been rehearsing. “I’ve had this idea of a doom metal band”, Henu stated and Otto was in right away. After a couple of hours first groovy songs were created, constantly growing towards stoner rock still preserving the doomy mood.In the absence of lyrical express expressionist and a bass maestro, dudes thought that songs would soon lose their edge. Search for vocalist lasted about five minutes and that many beers after which Juho from local garage/action rock group Chainerection joined the two. His dark, psychedelic lyrics combined with strong voice gave the band a soul. By the end of the year, Antti (also from Chainerection) perfected Psychedeliver’s soundscape with booming bass. With stoner rock basis, Psychedeliver adopts musical aspects with criteria “not shit”.

This one is still fresh off the pipeline. The band is called Peacemaker. They’re from the UK. Their music is fucking killer doom metal.
bio:
Peacemaker were formed in London in 2010. Sam Taylor and Rich Maw- former members of Humberside death metal band Infliction- contacted former Satanic Fatwa bassist Al Lawson and embarked a musical quest. Eschewing any scene, trend or nod to what was currently in vogue, they instinctively knew they had to play: True, Old School, Doom Laden Metal.
With an album of music written and rehearsed the search was on for a vocalist. Ravens Creed (and former Satanic Fatwa) frontman Al Osta was recruited from his lair in Leeds and quickly pledged his allegiance to the cause.
Death to the Betrayers. Welcome to the Fifth Circle of Hell.
The download is a sampler (3 tracks) from their upcoming album. Get it and get immersed.

I featured  Revenge Death Ball as part of a Daily Bandcamp Album. At the time this album wasn’t free. Well it is now. You should grab it. The music is heavy hard rock with deep and rough vocals, memorable riffs and overall just excellent musicianship.
