Review – Road To Kurti by Caravan of Whores

The latest release by Caravan of Whores is Road to Kurti. It’s the follow up to last years A Cosmic Interlude. Like last years effort, the new one slays more than just dragons.

Road to Kurti is is everything that made A Cosmic Interlude great and then some. It’s thick and heavy as fuck for one. It’s doomy beyond all belief, the riffs don’t give up, not for 1 second. The bass is deep. It’s so deep that Skillrex will have to listen and take note on the proper way to use bass. Of course he won’t know what to do with it but we’ll save that for another day.

The album opens with the bass and fuzz heavy “Drug Queen.” The instrumental at the end is fucking sweet. It’s trippy and mind blowing. “Mr. Bendyman” is next. If you like heavy and fuzzed out bass, this is your song. “Your God is Dead” is the highlight track. It’s a 9 minute track, the first half contains vocals while the 2nd half is this awesome jam full of crushing guitar riffs, deep bass and some of the finest drumming. It runs right into the closing track “Waiting,” another bass heavy bad ass song with killer riffs throughout.

Road to Kuti is one album that needs to be on your “must listen” list. This album is a cut above the rest. It’s heavy, fuzzy, doomy, has really catchy riffs, and quite honestly, just all round rules. This is a great progression for the band and I’m excited to hear what they have to follow this up with. They certainly raised the bar with this release. The album is out now through the band.
